About Me

I am an 18-year-old college student currently attending Quinnipiac University, majoring in political science. I have a strong passion for public policy.

Why I am Running

I openly acknowledge that I do not have much experience in zoning law and application. However, I have a strong desire for public service. I am a very fast learner and have taken it upon myself to study Madison's various zoning regulations, Connecticut General Statutes on the duty of the ZBA, and zoning jurisprudence in general. I think I have a good idea of the type of work that the zoning board of appeals does. I am confident that with the guidance of senior members on the zoning board, I can become fluent in zoning law, and how it is applied.

So, why am I running? Because I believe the job of a public servant requires so much more than understanding legalese. I believe it requires empathizing with landowners and neighbors alike. I believe it requires problem-solving and consensus-building. I believe it requires actually listening to the people you are serving! Zoning statutes and ordinances don't exist simply to be dryly and abstractly applied. They have a purpose. They exist to serve the common good and make the neighborhood a safer and more livable place for everyone. If a straight application of an ordinance fails to meet those goals, then a variance should be considered. That is my running philosophy. If I win, I hope to bring problem-solving skills and a new perspective to the board.
